So, there was a big blizzard the other day. It was pritty crazy. So, I took some pictures..the camera didn't really pic up all the snow..but I think you can still get the idea. I had to walk back to the dorm by these two cars. The snow there was up over my waste.
I went to the top of the observation tower here on campus. The wind was really really strong and loud up there. It was howling and making all sorts of crazy noises. Anyways, those lights arn't really green...its just the setting I had the camera on. I was trying to pic up as much light as possible. I enjoyed it though, in fact, I slept REALLY well that night, all huddled up in my nice warm blankets listing to the wind. It was cool.

In any case, we have a lot of snow now. I can't wait to go snowboarding!! YAY!! I'm also really going to try to gow snowmobiling..but I don't think that will ever happen. LOL. The only downside is that I can't ride my motorcycle..but hey, I can live for two months without it right?

Christmas stuff

So, Christmas has been good so far. Last weekend was pritty busy. On Thursday I got to be Santaclaus. I went to Kaori`s (last year`s host sister) school and dressed up as Santclaus and handed out presents. That was fun, I was a little nervous at first but it all turned out ok. It was also cool to see a Japanese Middle school and all that. Quite a bit different I think then the schools you might see in America. After that, I headed into town and did a little bit of shopping. I basically wonder`d around a couple shopping malls and realized that everything was way too expensive! Eventually, I met up with some friends of mine and we all went Christmas shopping together in Tanuki Koji. It was fun. I hadn`t seem them for a while, so it was nice to catch up.

That evening I headed over to a Korean friend of mine`s house and we all (3 koreans and myself) went to the store, bought some ingredients, and cooked Korean food. OMG IT WAS SOOOOO GOOD! And, now, I sort of know how to make it! YAY!!! So, I am going to try making some by myself here soon. It was also really really spicey. It was kind of like a mix between, kimchi and curry. I enjoyed it very much. I have been eating a lot of Korean food lately and I think that Korean food is becoming my favorite food. Its all very very delecious!

Oh yah, I also wound up waching a movie that weekend..well, actually Sunday. KING KONG!! Yah, it was good movie, defenately worth paying the money to watch in Theaters...course, you all have probobly seen it by now...we get movies a little late here. So, Japanese movie theaters are a little different. They are all really nice with great sound and huge screens!! Also...you can buy Carmel Popcorn!! YAY!!!!! Its really good too. The thing that is a little strange though is that Most Japanese are reeeeally really quite durning the movie...like they don`t really laugh, or anything like that. Also, most will stay and watch all the credits...lol...not us Americans! Ha!. Its kinda funny though cuz somebody in the movie will say something or do something that is funny and I will laugh at it..and then realize I am the only one laughing..not that I care..it is just kinda funny is all. Hehhehe. Sometime the Japanese will even look at you for making noise! lol.

This coming weekend will hopefully be a good one. Tommarow (22nd) is the last day of school. So, after class I am going to a place called Sapporo Factory. It is a huge shopping mall with everything in it..like a movie theater, and arcade and all sorts of stores. It also has a big food court/event hall where there should be a big Christmas thing going on. So I`m gunna go there with some friends. Also, they have the worlds best Nikuman. (dough wrapped meat thingies!!)

Well, I gotta go. Write sometime if your interested.

Odori near Christmas time

So, this is a shopping strip called Tanuki Koji (a mythical creature that is a racoon dog). And here is Odori Park. That tower is the TV Tower and is the center of Sapporo.
There was this show going on that was called white illumintation. And this girl would play this...umm..piano thingy, and the lights in Odori park with dance to the music..it was awsome!
The lights here are the ones that would dance, (the tree and the plants and stuff)....is was quite cool.
Near Suskino! (The Red Light District)

same.. Oh yah, to get to Odori park..I took the subway. IPPAI!!

More of the road trip

So, on the way east we saw this waterfall..so we took pictures...it was kinda cool. This is actually returning home..we were climbing this big mountain...and found a lookout point..it was quite pretty.

This is just about as far east as you can get on Hokkaido Island......can you see my house in homer?......it's out there somewhere... We saw that big mountain..and decided to drive too it!
On they way, we stopped at....A VOLCANO!!!! YAH!!

You could actually walk right up to the vents...they were really loud and smelled horrible. more of THE VOLCANO...

Me trying to be artistic with my camera.....right..
By the way, this is the most beautifull lake in Japan. It also has the world record for being the clearest lake.

Road Trip

So, my pictures arn't really in order but yah...here.
This is just some picture I took while were driving down a road in the middle of Hokkaido! YAY! Same thing....different seasons!
Neat eh? all whithin about a 2 hour span.

So this is next to the youth hostell we stayed out. It is a house made out of stone that was used for an old drama called Kita No Kuni Kara (from the north country). It was about an old guy who moved out to the country and built some houses out of recycled stuff and tried to raise his family there. It was and still is really popular!
These are the recycled houses.
They were built out of all sorts of neat junk...like a tram car for a ski mountain! And, they were actual houses too!
This is us...except....only the guys drove :( I probobly drove 70% of the way). We drove 1300 kilometers..which is about 800 miles or something.
There's our rental car and the first youth hostell we stayed at. Our car is the cute little blue one. (ugh)
Us again.....just turn your head sideways.
